A Honorable and Deserving Award
Obaid Juenda’s creative and hard work as well as contribution to Afghan music was acknowledged when he received the award for the “Upcoming Artist of the Year” by Ariana Television Network (ATN) in Afghanistan.
Below is a brief interview Virtual Afghans recently had with Obaid congratulating him on receiving this honorable award.
What was your reaction when you heard the news about the award?
Obaid: I was abroad doing a show whilst the ATN authority wanted to contact me and break the news of me being voted for the nomination and after about 4 days when I returned home I had around tens of voice messages left in my voicemail informing me about the news and asking me to contact them. I was overwhelmed with pride and energy. That’s how I can recall the moment.
What does this award mean to you?
Obaid: This award is a payoff for my hard work and sleepless nights working on my music. It definitely is a great source of pride, confidence, determination and more dedicated energy towards my music.
What is the next step; are you working on anything new?
Obaid: The very next step is already taken and it is my new album which I have been working on for past the past two years; which it came to a completion recently and I
have tried hard to put a firm forward step for our new music generation. I hope my past two years worth of hardship and struggle which I had on board along with
making this album will be a good justice for the honor I have already received.
Tell us more about your new and upcoming album or video projects?
Obaid: At the moment, I am working along with ATN team of professionals to picturise (Aghaz) my new and upcoming audio album which consists of 8 new tracks.
Can you provide loyal visitors of Virtual Afghans any more details about your upcoming album?
Obaid:The title of the song is Aghaz (The Begining) and I am working effectively to at least get some of them videoed in order to promote the release of the album and
I am aiming to do do it inshallah by the Eid celebration. All I can tell about this album is that it ll show a new me with a 2 years of gap working towards the better afghan music and myself.
You have had concerts in Europe, how about a tour of North America?
Obaid: I’ll be having a world tour inshallah which ll start around Christmas and at some stage I am not sure about exact date it ll bring me to North America too and I am looking dead forward to that.
